HEARTSONG
When Deb Ary, Sue Moore, Patti Plenert and Nancy Brennan got together in 2008, HeartSong was born. These 4 women are all members of Sound of the Heartland chorus. Their love of 4-part Barbershop harmony is evident in their commitment to bringing excellence to every performance. They hope to bring that same joy to their audiences. Deb Ary is our tenor. Deb sings Baritone in the chorus, but is a dynamite tenor also. She agreed to switch parts to sing with us. And we are thrilled that she did. She lives in Wichita with her husband Patrick and daughter Evie. Deb is the superintendent of the City of Wichita’s water treatment plant, so you can thank her for Wichita’s great tap water!
Sue Moore is the lead. She has been a member of Sound of the Heartland chorus for 17 years. She recently completed her Certified Director program and enjoys serving on the Directing team of the chorus. Sue live in Wichita with her husband Bernie. They have recently become empty-nesters when their son Eric married Katie, and their other son, Jeremy, started school at Kstate.
Our baritone is Patti Plenert. Patti is new to Sound of the Heartland Chorus, but has previously been an 18 year member of the Wichita Chorus. She has been in numerous quartets and tells us she can’t wait to actually make it to the competition stage. Patti lives in Wichita with her husband Terry. They have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. And their sweet little dog, Sugar, who likes to listen to us rehearse.
Bass Nancy Brennan is the most experienced member of our quartet. She has competed with several quartets in region 7, placing in the top 5 more than once. She also serves on the directing team of Sound of the Heartland. Nancy’s husband, Marty, is one of the choruses biggest supporters and helpers. We think it was great of Nancy to marry a guy who was such a big fan of barbershop. They have 4 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren between them.
